Load Testing Setup for Self Drilling Rock Anchor

Interface adhesive property is the foundation for function of self drilling rock anchor. Adhesive capacity and soil type have great relation with construction methods, also, different grouting pressure and hole method have great influence on adhesive property. Except construction under normal flow, there are several load testing setups for self drilling rock anchor, such as: Compression Load Test, Pull-out Test, Lateral Load Test and Deformation Instrumentation.

If self drilling rock anchor is adopted to reinforce project, pull-out test is necessary in place. According to pull-out resistance, length of test anchorage section and diameter of anchorage body, adhesive strength between grouting body and self drilling rock anchor, shearing strength between surrounding rocks can be figured out.

During test, if self drilling rock anchor was pulled out from grouting body, it marks that bearing capacity of anchorage body is determined by adhesive strength between grouting body and self drilling rock bolt; if self drilling rock anchor was pulled out with grouting body, it marks that bearing capacity of anchorage body is determined by shearing strength between grouting body and surrounding rocks; if self drilling rock anchor was broken off when pulling out, it marks that bearing capacity of anchorage body is controlled by tensile strength of self drilling rock anchor.

So, site construction always carries out Pull-out Test to confirm ultimate pullout capacity.
